Learn about rice polishing level

1. Brown rice
Brown rice is rich in nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber in the germ part.
It contains about 5 to 9 times more dietary fiber than white rice.
The bran layer remains intact, so it contains a lot of indigestible fiber and is difficult to digest and absorb, so please chew well before eating. Chew 30 times. We recommend adjusting the amount for people with weak stomachs and children.

2. What is polished rice?
This is rice that has been polished from brown rice, leaving some of the germ and bran intact.
The germ and bran are rich in dietary fiber, minerals such as calcium and iron, and nutrients such as vitamin B1 and vitamin E.
The less polished the rice is, the higher its nutritional value.
There are various levels of polishing for rice, such as "50% polished" and "70% polished," with the higher the number, the closer it is to polished rice.

3. Half-polished rice
This is brown rice with half of the bran layer removed.
The nutritional value of the germ is exactly halfway between white rice and brown rice, so you can enjoy the aroma and sweetness of brown rice.
When compared to white rice, it contains more than twice the vitamin E, more than four times the vitamin B1, and about twice the fiber.
It is easier to digest and absorb than brown rice, making it easier to eat.
*Soak rice for at least 30 minutes, and use 30% more water than white rice when cooking.

4. Seven-tenths polished rice ★Perfect for beginners to polished rice!
This is rice that has had about 70% of the bran and germ removed from brown rice, giving the rice a white color and retaining some of the nutrients from the germ.
70% polished rice can be cooked in the same way as regular rice. The taste is easy to eat even for those new to brown rice, and even children can eat it without any hesitation.
*Soak rice for at least 30 minutes, and use 20% more water than white rice when cooking.

5. Polished rice
This is brown rice from which the pericarp, seed coat, and bran layer called the aleurone layer have been completely removed.
White rice is the best way to enjoy the sweetness.

6. Wash-free rice

This is polished rice with the bran removed. When cooking Tawaraya's no-rinse rice, it may turn cloudy white when water is added, but this is the dissolved starch layer. Please rest assured that this is not bran. Our no-rinse rice is made using a method called "dry no-rinse rice," which removes the bran from the rice, but leaves just the umami layer intact.

Finally, cooking brown rice requires some skill, but recently there are many rice cookers with brown rice cooking functions, so please feel free to ask us if you have any questions.
For beginners, we recommend partially polished rice, which is easy to cook, tastes similar to white rice, and is rich in nutrients!
Take this opportunity to enjoy the charm and deliciousness of brown rice and partially polished rice, which are different from white rice!

You can choose the degree of rice polishing to suit your lifestyle, such as brown rice if you feel like you've been getting tired easily lately, 50% (70%) polished rice if you want to eat a healthy diet but prioritize flavor, or unpolished rice if you're concerned about water content.

It may be a good idea to keep rice of different polishing levels on hand (the smallest pack is a 2kg bag!).
