Polished rice recommended for pregnant women

(This article takes about 2 minutes to read)

Unless you're feeling unwell, you probably don't often feel strongly that "more than anything, I want my body to have good nutrition right now."

However, nutrition is a major concern for pregnant women, who need high-quality nutrition for themselves and, above all, for their baby.

Normally, you might think of getting your nutrients from meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, or supplements.

What we would like to recommend from Tawaraya is

Getting nutrition from rice, the staple food.

Rice is often thought of as a source of energy, so you might not think of it as a source of nutrition. But wouldn't it be nice if you could get nutrients in addition to energy?

With polished rice, this is possible!

Polished rice is made by removing part of the bran layer from brown rice, leaving the nutrient-rich "germ" part.

Simply put, it is rice that is somewhere between brown rice and white rice, and "50% polished rice" is rice that has had 50% of the bran layer removed from brown rice.

It looks slightly yellow and similar to brown rice.

The reason why we recommend 50% polished rice to pregnant women is

① It is more nutritious than white rice and easier to eat than brown rice, so you can eat it without any difficulty.

② It is a powerful ally in relieving constipation

3. Maintain a healthy body through detoxification effects

Because there are benefits to this.

Regarding ①, if rice, which is your staple food, is "not tasty" or "difficult to eat," you won't be able to continue eating it and it will be stressful. Five-minute rice is characterized by being less dry and easier to eat than brown rice. It is also easier to digest in the body than brown rice, which reduces the burden on the body . It is also richer in nutrients than white rice,

Magnesium 3.1 times

Phosphorus 1.5 times

Folic acid 2x

4 times more vitamin B1

3x Vitamin B6

2x insoluble dietary fiber

And so on.

*Ratio compared to white rice per 100g of cooked rice. From the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Food Composition Database.

Regarding point 2, during pregnancy, hormonal changes and changes in body shape can often lead to constipation. Half-polished rice is richer in insoluble dietary fiber than white rice, so it can help improve bowel movements and regulate the intestines .

Regarding ③, detoxification is the process of expelling waste and toxins that have accumulated in the body, keeping the intestines in good condition, improving blood circulation, and allowing sufficient nutrients and oxygen to be delivered to the baby in the womb .

Although polished rice has many advantages, there are some things you need to be careful of.

Choose rice with a clear origin (producer)

Five-minute polished rice has 50% of the husk removed from the brown rice, leaving the remaining 50%. Because the husk and bran layer are affected by pesticides, it's best to choose rice with transparent, reliable origin information (Tawaraya publishes the origins of all its rice). If you're concerned, you can also choose seven-minute polished rice, which has the surface of the five-minute polished rice further removed, or organic rice.
